A number of organizations are placing increased attention on the retention of high quality employees. In this paper, we examine the relationship between intention to quit and human resource management, employee voice, and organizational cost cutting. The results suggest that a high commitment human resource strategy, a positive workplace climate, the presence of a grievance procedure to address employee complaint, and membership in a trade union, are associated with a lower probability that an employee intends to quit his or her job. However, organizational cost cutting was related to an increased intention on the part of the employee to quit.
